Koy Killen is an associate in Winstead's Commercial Litigation and Energy & Environmental Law practices. Koy has experience in various aspects of civil litigation and appellate law, including general commercial litigation, oil and gas, real estate, premises liability, personal injury and defense of governmental entities. Koy has argued multiple jury trials, and he was recognized a Texas Rising Star in 2008 & 2009 and one of Tarrant County's Top Attorneys by his peers in 2006-2009.

• Representing trust in a lawsuit seeking damages against a major production company for failure to properly pay royalty on natural gas liquids and residue gas.
• Defending a petroleum consulting firm and one of its officers in a case filed by a bankruptcy trustee, alleging breach of fiduciary duty, fraudulent transfers, preferential payments, and money had and received.
• Representing a Tarrant County landowner in a hydrocarbon pipeline condemnation suit filed by a common carrier under eminent domain law.
• Representing mineral interest owners against lessees in a lawsuit for nonpayment of oil and gas royalties.
• Representing a major land and petroleum exploration company in a lawsuit challenging the validity of liens filed against Winstead's client's mineral interests by oilfield supply companies in various West Texas properties.
• Defending one of the world's largest energy companies in an East Texas case seeking surface damages.  

Other

• Represented hotel owner in an easement dispute with a neighboring property owner.
• Served as plaintiff's counsel for a national industrial fabrication company in a construction contract suit against a commercial bakery.
• Served as defense counsel in a Tarrant County commercial lease dispute.
