Ms. Sims' practice focuses on retail real estate transactions, including shopping center acquisitions, dispositions, site development and related loans, as well as retail leasing of anchor space, shop space and pad sites on behalf of both national and regional landlords and tenants. In addition, her practice includes experience in representing developers in similar non-retail transactions, particularly for senior housing developers and hotel operators. Laura also has experience in restaurant and office leasing on behalf of both landlords and tenants, real estate-related environmental, industrial telecommunications and bankruptcy matters, and public-private development partnerships.

  • General: Represents landlords and tenants, buyers and sellers, developers of and investors in commercial real estate, both regionally and nationally
  • Leasing: Represents landlords and tenants in retail, office and industrial transactions, including regional shopping center projects, as well as restaurant, bank and hotel projects, including work with lease preparation and negotiations, lease workouts, and brokerage, management and related leasing matters; assists landlords/developers in leasing of office space in Class A, central business district buildings and major retail shopping
  • Acquisition and Development: Aids developers in all facets of development, including acquisition and sales, financing, development agreements, restrictive covenant agreements and other title, land use and development matters, construction matters, acquisition and construction loans, including development in mixed-use, office, retail, hotel, industrial and other commercial developments; experience includes value-added redevelopment of existing projects and investment in residential lot holdings and related Home Owner Association and developer compliance issues
  • Mortgage Lending: Represents lenders in various financing transactions, including acquisition, development and construction loans, permanent loans and other workouts
