Professional Development Program

Winstead associates are instructed in all aspects of developing a sophisticated legal practice and are given the opportunity and necessary support to achieve their life-long career and professional goals. Informal professional training occurs through interaction with attorneys of all experience levels as a part of the firm's day-to-day practice.

An initial orientation to Winstead's culture and core values begins during the Summer Associate Program. New associates start their career in Lawyer College, a two-day orientation to Winstead that addresses the practical challenges of starting a legal career.

Winstead maintains its commitment to the long-term success of its associates through the Professional Development Program, which provides an innovative curriculum of practical instruction that compliments this informal training and the associate's law school education. Associates benefit from an intensive series of lectures, demonstrations, mock trials and interactive sessions. The Professional Development Program teaches and models fundamental lawyering skills, communicates the firm's values and standards and facilitates associates' integration into the legal profession and Winstead. In addition, Winstead practice groups provide and coordinate formal training that is central to specific areas of practice.

The Professional Development Program and Lawyer College are designed to bridge the gap between law school education and the realities of a sophisticated legal practice. These programs exemplify Winstead's commitment to the long-term success and development of Winstead attorneys.
