Winstead Welcomes Shareholder Merritt M. Clements


San Antonio, TX, March 3, 2011 – Winstead PC is pleased to welcome Merritt M. Clements as a shareholder in the Business Litigation Practice Group. With over 20 years of litigation experience, Clements is a highly valued addition to Winstead's San Antonio offices. The capability of the litigation sector is rapidly growing, and the San Antonio office now holds nine lawyers. Clements specializes in business litigation, personal injury, professional liability, intellectual property, and governmental law. He has tried approximately 30 cases to verdict, and he practices all areas of litigation, including discovery, motion practice, settlement negotiation, trial, and appeals. Prior to joining Winstead, Clements was partner at Strasburger & Price, LLP.

A proven attorney in the personal injury field, Clements successfully negotiated a favorable settlement for a corporation sued by 250 claimants alleging toxic exposure. In regards to Intellectual Property, Clements won zero verdict for a manufacturer sued for $22 million on claims of copyright infringement, theft of trade secrets and tortious influence. 

Clements frequently provides training to lawyers and clients. He has delivered presentations regarding developments in transportation law to the National Association of Railroad Trial Counsel on several occasions. Clements has also presented Continuing Legal Education programs regarding trial advocacy techniques. His latest presentation, Update on Case Law Affecting Housing Authorities, was delivered at the Housing Authorities of Texas Symposium (2010).

Clements has been honored with a number of awards. Scene in SA magazine named him one of San Antonio's finest attorneys in each edition since 2005, and Law & Politics Magazine/Texas Monthly has titled him a Texas Super Lawyer in 2009 and 2010. You may use the wildcard symbol (*) as a root expander.  A search for "anti*" will find not only "anti", but also "anti-trust", "antique", etc.

Entering two terms together in a search field will behave as though an "OR" is being used.  For example, entering "Antique Motorcars" as a Client Name search will find results with either word in the Client Name.


AND and OR may be used in a search.  Note: they must be capitalized, e.g., "Project AND Finance." 

The + and - sign operators may be used.  The + sign indicates that the term immediately following is required, while the - sign indicates to omit results that contain that term. E.g., "+real -estate" says results must have "real" but not "estate".

To perform an exact phrase search, surround your search phrase with quotation marks.  For example, "Project Finance".
