John is a member of Winstead’s Real Estate Development & Investments Practice Group. His practice covers an extensive and varied range of commercial real estate matters, such as the representation of real estate investment funds (REITs), property managers, developers, institutional landlords, and tenants in the disposition, acquisition, leasing, financing, and management of retail, office, multifamily, industrial, and commercial projects. In addition, his experience with private equity recapitalizations and portfolio-level transactions gives him a unique perspective on how individual assets fit into broader investment strategies.

A significant portion of his work focuses on large-scale, multi-market projects, often with layered capital structures and institutional stakeholders. He routinely advises clients on navigating deals from early-stage structuring and financing to leasing strategy and eventual exit. His work reflects a consistent emphasis on multifamily and build-to-rent platforms, as well as mixed-use developments that combine residential, retail and office components.

He has worked with some of the most active sponsors in the market, including groups with national portfolios and significant development pipelines.

Search Tips:

You may use the wildcard symbol (*) as a root expander.  A search for "anti*" will find not only "anti", but also "anti-trust", "antique", etc.

Entering two terms together in a search field will behave as though an "OR" is being used.  For example, entering "Antique Motorcars" as a Client Name search will find results with either word in the Client Name.

Operators

AND and OR may be used in a search.  Note: they must be capitalized, e.g., "Project AND Finance."

The + and - sign operators may be used.  The + sign indicates that the term immediately following is required, while the - sign indicates to omit results that contain that term. E.g., "+real -estate" says results must have "real" but not "estate".

To perform an exact phrase search, surround your search phrase with quotation marks.  For example, "Project Finance".

Searches are not case sensitive.
