Ryan is an intellectual property litigation attorney whose practice focuses on high-stakes patent and technology disputes. He has represented clients across a broad range of industries, including semiconductors, software, consumer electronics, medical devices, and oil & gas tools.

Ryan has developed infringement and invalidity theories at the outset of cases and has experience drafting pleadings, motions, and discovery papers in complex litigation matters, including disputes against some of the largest companies in the world. He regularly prepares infringement and invalidity contentions, assists with fact and expert discovery, and supports trial teams in federal district courts. As a registered patent attorney, Ryan has also represented clients before the Patent and Trademark Office in post-grant proceedings, including inter partes reviews and ex parte reexaminations.

His technical background in computer engineering provides a solid foundation for understanding the technologies at issue in complex patent disputes. He leverages this training to distill highly technical concepts with precision and clarity, both in written advocacy and in collaboration with experts and clients. Ryan is committed to delivering thorough, efficient, and practical advocacy at every stage of a case. 

Representative Experience

  • Defended a lighting-device manufacturer in patent disputes across the country, including Texas, California, New York, and Delaware.
  • Represented a patentee in a patent infringement action involving user-interface technology in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of California.
  • Represented copyright holders in suits to enforce and protect their creative works in U.S. district courts throughout Texas. 

Search Tips:

You may use the wildcard symbol (*) as a root expander.  A search for "anti*" will find not only "anti", but also "anti-trust", "antique", etc.

Entering two terms together in a search field will behave as though an "OR" is being used.  For example, entering "Antique Motorcars" as a Client Name search will find results with either word in the Client Name.

Operators

AND and OR may be used in a search.  Note: they must be capitalized, e.g., "Project AND Finance." 

The + and - sign operators may be used.  The + sign indicates that the term immediately following is required, while the - sign indicates to omit results that contain that term. E.g., "+real -estate" says results must have "real" but not "estate".

To perform an exact phrase search, surround your search phrase with quotation marks.  For example, "Project Finance".

Searches are not case sensitive.
