FORT WORTH, June 26, 2017, — Gavin Fearey, an experienced business and investment management attorney, has joined Winstead's Corporate Securities/M&A Practice Group as Of Counsel in the Fort Worth office.

Fearey counsels private investment fund managers and entrepreneurs in structuring transactions and navigating compliance issues related to the Commodity Exchange Act and the Investment Advisers Act of 1940. He brings more than 16 years of corporate, investment funds and regulatory compliance experience as both in-house counsel in Texas and at large Midwestern law firms.

“Gavin’s broad experience and expertise with commodity pool operators and commodity trading advisors who trade commodity interests and currencies will add valuable depth to the Investment Management & Private Funds Industry Group,” said Andrew Rosell, Shareholder and head of Winstead’s Investment Management & Private Funds Industry Group.  “Our current and future clients will be the real beneficiaries of his addition to the firm as currencies, commodities and commodity interests again become an important focus of many investment funds.”

In addition to his focus on private funds and commodity interests, Fearey’s experience includes transactional matters relating to venture capital, private equity, mergers and acquisitions, securities, finance and general corporate counsel.

Fearey received his J.D. from Northwestern University Pritzker School of Law in 1999 and M.S.I.S from the University of Michigan in 1997.  He is licensed to practice in Texas.  He formerly practiced at Grable Martin Fulton PLLC and before that served as Associate General Counsel at Alpha Financial Technologies. Prior to that, Fearey spent 6 years with the Investment Funds, Advisers and Derivatives Group at Sidley Austin LLP.

Search Tips:

You may use the wildcard symbol (*) as a root expander.  A search for "anti*" will find not only "anti", but also "anti-trust", "antique", etc.

Entering two terms together in a search field will behave as though an "OR" is being used.  For example, entering "Antique Motorcars" as a Client Name search will find results with either word in the Client Name.

Operators

AND and OR may be used in a search.  Note: they must be capitalized, e.g., "Project AND Finance."

The + and - sign operators may be used.  The + sign indicates that the term immediately following is required, while the - sign indicates to omit results that contain that term. E.g., "+real -estate" says results must have "real" but not "estate".

To perform an exact phrase search, surround your search phrase with quotation marks.  For example, "Project Finance".

Searches are not case sensitive.
