Winstead Welcomes Shareholder Jon R. Mooney

Charlotte, NC, May 31, 2011 – Winstead PC announces that Jon R. Mooney has joined the firm as a shareholder in the finance and banking practice group in the firm's Charlotte office. Mooney was previously associate general counsel at Bank of America N.A., serving in various leadership roles in the Global Commercial Bank. In that capacity, he served as legal head for several divisions, including Healthcare, Nonprofit and Government, Global Credit Products, Commercial Lending, and the Enterprise Client Coverage group at Merrill Lynch, Pierce, Fenner & Smith, as well as general counsel for the Global Commercial Bank. Mooney also has extensive experience in bank regulatory and restructuring matters.

Through his various leadership positions, Mooney has developed a deep understanding of the needs and operations of a major financial services provider, which will provide Winstead and its clients with a unique perspective that is invaluable in today’s challenging legal and regulatory environment.

Prior to working at Bank of America, Mooney was a partner in the business group of a major national law firm, specializing in corporate and capital markets issues. He has over 15 years of experience serving clients in various matters related to financial services and he will enhance Winstead's business base in several new areas, including several outside of traditional lending. Mooney graduated magna cum laude from the Scholar's Program of Pennsylvania State University, and received his J.D. from the University of Virginia School of Law.
