Monte James is a member of Winstead’s Real Estate Development & Investments and Construction Practice Groups. Monte’s practice is focused on real estate development, with an emphasis on drafting and negotiating construction contracts and structuring and administering residential, mixed-use and office condominiums, and residential and mixed-use communities. 

Representative Experience

  • Real Estate Development: Representation of developers and builders in the creation, development, governance, management and administration of master planned communities, mixed-use, residential, condominium and other covenant-controlled projects; Representation of developers and builders in the formation and operation of property owners associations; Representation of condominium, residential, and mixed-use property owner associations.
  • Construction: Representation of developers and contractors for all phases of the construction process, including owner/contractor agreements, owner/architect agreements, subcontracts, professional services agreements and project management agreements.
  • Acquisitions and Dispositions: Representation of both purchasers and sellers of real estate in the acquisition, disposition and development of improved and unimproved property.
  • Leasing: Representation of both landlords and tenants in connection with the negotiation of lease agreements for various types of real property.

Search Tips:

You may use the wildcard symbol (*) as a root expander.  A search for "anti*" will find not only "anti", but also "anti-trust", "antique", etc.

Entering two terms together in a search field will behave as though an "OR" is being used.  For example, entering "Antique Motorcars" as a Client Name search will find results with either word in the Client Name.

Operators

AND and OR may be used in a search.  Note: they must be capitalized, e.g., "Project AND Finance." 

The + and - sign operators may be used.  The + sign indicates that the term immediately following is required, while the - sign indicates to omit results that contain that term. E.g., "+real -estate" says results must have "real" but not "estate".

To perform an exact phrase search, surround your search phrase with quotation marks.  For example, "Project Finance".

Searches are not case sensitive.
