Bob Burton is a Shareholder and Department Head at Winstead, where he leads the firm’s Real Estate Development, Real Estate Finance, and Public Finance practices. He is nationally recognized for his work on structuring planned communities, complex condominium and mixed-use developments and is frequently engaged on high-profile and challenging projects where governance, regulatory structure, and risk allocation are critical.

Bob counsels national homebuilders, developers, and investors on all phases of residential, commercial, and mixed-use developments, including land acquisition, entitlement, project structuring, marketing, and regulatory compliance. His experience includes large-scale master-planned communities, urban and suburban mixed-use developments, resort and second-home communities, and highly complex condominium and vertical mixed-use projects.

Bob is widely regarded as a go-to advisor for condominium and mixed-use projects presenting heightened legal, financial, and regulatory complexity. He is often brought in to address projects that are stalled, distressed, or particularly difficult due to statutory constraints, governance challenges, or market conditions.

An additional core focus of Bob’s practice is community governance. From project conception through build-out, stabilization, and disposition, he advises clients on the formation and operation of property owner associations, governance frameworks, and long-term compliance strategies. He frequently assists clients in repositioning incomplete or underperforming projects and in resolving nuanced governance issues in vertical and horizontal mixed-use communities.

In addition to his transactional practice, Bob plays an active role in legislative and policy efforts affecting condominiums and mixed-use developments. He has led, advised on, and contributed to statutory reform efforts in several states, helping modernize planned community, condominium, and development laws to facilitate viable and financeable condominium construction.

Bob is consistently recognized by Chambers USA and The Best Lawyers in America for his work in real estate law. Clients value his judgment, practical approach, and depth of experience on complex, high-stake developments.

Search Tips:

You may use the wildcard symbol (*) as a root expander.  A search for "anti*" will find not only "anti", but also "anti-trust", "antique", etc.

Entering two terms together in a search field will behave as though an "OR" is being used.  For example, entering "Antique Motorcars" as a Client Name search will find results with either word in the Client Name.

Operators

AND and OR may be used in a search.  Note: they must be capitalized, e.g., "Project AND Finance."

The + and - sign operators may be used.  The + sign indicates that the term immediately following is required, while the - sign indicates to omit results that contain that term. E.g., "+real -estate" says results must have "real" but not "estate".

To perform an exact phrase search, surround your search phrase with quotation marks.  For example, "Project Finance".

Searches are not case sensitive.
