Former American Airlines General Counsel Gary Kennedy has written a new book, Twelve Years of Turbulence, with former Dallas Morning News airlines writer Terry Maxon. In the book, set to be published on February 6, 2018, the authors describe the inside story of the company’s battle to survive in the years following the terrorist attacks of 9/11. The book covers a multitude of legal subjects that arose during this period of time, including crisis management, corporate governance, insolvency, M&A, and law firm/client relationships.

This discussion will focus on the role of lawyers and the legal issues they encounter during times of crisis and turmoil inside a major U.S. corporation. Particular attention is devoted to the ethical questions faced by attorneys representing the company’s interests and the relationship between the company’s internal lawyers and outside counsel.

Search Tips:

You may use the wildcard symbol (*) as a root expander.  A search for "anti*" will find not only "anti", but also "anti-trust", "antique", etc.

Entering two terms together in a search field will behave as though an "OR" is being used.  For example, entering "Antique Motorcars" as a Client Name search will find results with either word in the Client Name.

Operators

AND and OR may be used in a search.  Note: they must be capitalized, e.g., "Project AND Finance."

The + and - sign operators may be used.  The + sign indicates that the term immediately following is required, while the - sign indicates to omit results that contain that term. E.g., "+real -estate" says results must have "real" but not "estate".

To perform an exact phrase search, surround your search phrase with quotation marks.  For example, "Project Finance".

Searches are not case sensitive.
