04.15.13

Dallas, TX, Apr. 15, 2013 — Law firm Winstead PC is proud to announce the three recipients of the 2013 Winstead Juris Doctor Scholarships, a program designed to benefit outstanding first-year minority law students. The scholarship recipients are Veronica Cruz from the University of Houston (UH) Law Center, Randy Santa Ana from the University of Texas (UT) School of Law, and Angel Torres from Southern Methodist University (SMU) Dedman School of Law.

The Winstead Juris Doctor Scholarship assists exceptional first-year minority law students at UH, UT and SMU. The scholarship selection process begins with submission of a written application, a 500 word personal statement, a transcript of first-semester grades, and the candidate's resume. In addition to a cash award, each winner is offered a position in Winstead's Summer Associate Program.

A unique feature of Winstead's scholarship award is a $1,500 grant presented to each winner's student interest group of choice. In the case of this year's winners, Winstead will present $1,500 towards the UH Hispanic Law Students Association on behalf of Cruz; the UT Asian Law Students Association on behalf of Santa Ana; and the SMU Hispanic Law Students Association on behalf of Torres.

Cruz, Santa Ana and Torres will be honored at three separate receptions hosted by Winstead over the next two weeks in the firm's offices in Houston, Austin and Dallas. The receptions give the winners and their families, the law school staff, and Winstead clients and attorneys a chance to meet and celebrate the accomplishments of the scholarship winners.

Search Tips:

You may use the wildcard symbol (*) as a root expander.  A search for "anti*" will find not only "anti", but also "anti-trust", "antique", etc.

Entering two terms together in a search field will behave as though an "OR" is being used.  For example, entering "Antique Motorcars" as a Client Name search will find results with either word in the Client Name.

Operators

AND and OR may be used in a search.  Note: they must be capitalized, e.g., "Project AND Finance."

The + and - sign operators may be used.  The + sign indicates that the term immediately following is required, while the - sign indicates to omit results that contain that term. E.g., "+real -estate" says results must have "real" but not "estate".

To perform an exact phrase search, surround your search phrase with quotation marks.  For example, "Project Finance".

Searches are not case sensitive.
