HOUSTON, TX, September 1, 2026 – Winstead PC is pleased to announce that McCall Grimes has joined the firm’s Houston office as a Shareholder in the Real Estate Development & Investments Practice Group.
Grimes brings a distinctive combination of in-house leadership and private-practice transactional experience to Winstead. He advises sponsors, developers, and investors on a broad range of real estate and strategic transactions, including institutional joint ventures, acquisitions & dispositions, development projects, financings, recapitalizations, fund formations and investment platforms.
“McCall understands real estate transactions from both the legal and business sides of the table,” said George Craft, Managing Shareholder of Winstead’s Houston office. “His experience working directly with sophisticated developers, investors, and other industry participants will be a tremendous asset to our clients. His arrival also represents an important step in the continued expansion of our Houston office and our real estate capabilities throughout the region.”
Grimes most recently served as General Counsel of The Dinerstein Companies, a multigenerational Houston-based real estate developer and investor with longstanding focus on multifamily and student housing across the United States. As General Counsel, McCall was a member of the company’s executive leadership team and Investment Committee and advised company leadership on transactions and investments nationwide.
“Winstead has one of the country’s most highly regarded real estate practices, and I am excited to join a team with such a deep understanding of the industry,” Grimes said. “Returning to private practice gives me the opportunity to bring the perspective I gained as a general counsel to clients structuring and executing sophisticated transactions and making complex investment decisions. I look forward to working with George and my new colleagues to expand the firm’s relationships and capabilities in Houston and beyond.”
Grimes began his legal career as a corporate associate at Vinson & Elkins, where he represented public companies, private equity sponsors and financial institutions in capital markets transactions, mergers and acquisitions and strategic investments. His experience included advising issuers and underwriters on public and private equity and debt offerings, including initial public offerings and follow-on transactions, as well as counseling sponsors and portfolio companies on acquisitions, dispositions and other investments. Grimes earned his J.D. in 2014 from Louisiana State University’s Paul M. Hebert Law Center and his B.B.A from Texas Christian University’s Neeley School of Business.
